It’s my Parting Shot for some – hey, hey, it’s the month of May – Weekend Short Shots…..
May 1st and, thanks to last weekend’s significant snow event, there is still a few stitches of white stuff still on the ground. That didn’t stop Moon Lake from opening on Wednesday while all three City of Saskatoon courses plus Dakota Dunes and the Willows opened today – which means my new set of Taylor Made clubs are close to being brought from out of my office and into use. I will warn you when that happens!
Once again, a tip of the football helmet to the Huskies Football Foundation for another brilliantly organized Dogs Breakfast. I had to miss out as my vehicle was in for service yesterday, but from what Jackson Imrie tells me, add Michael “Pinball” Clemons to all the previous guest speakers for this event who are beyond impressed with what the organizers and the team do to create and maintain a competitive U Sports football program! It restores some faith that there are really good people on campus, and affiliated with it, as opposed to some who want everything given to them and not giving back anything to the community, believing that they do just that by having students attend, and pay ridiculously-high tuition fees for several years and have them come out the other side as the University’s contribution to society! Not good enough!!
We have a Stanley Cup Playoffs Bracket Pool here at the Saskatoon Media Group – put together by yours truly, hence the Lazaruk Hockey League moniker to go along with it! We have 15 entrants with the winner being the one who successfully chooses the correct champion. I am happy to report that the four people who predicted Edmonton would win are at an extreme disadvantage now! Heck, I’m still alive with my Minnesota Wild choice – as are six people who took Colorado, two who went with Carolina while the ones who went with Vegas and Montreal are on the verge of advancing to Round 2! My predictable take on what went wrong for the Oil comes next week – don’t miss it!!
That’s my Parting Shot. I’m Les Lazaruk…and it turned out nice again!
