An investigation got underway Tuesday after several local active construction sites reported break and enters where property was stolen. Lloydminster RCMP were alerted to the sale of suspected stolen property via an online platform and identified a male suspect.
RCMP say officers observed the suspect conduct the sale of suspected stolen property in the area of 31st Street and 57th Avenue. An arrest was made and police allege the male had exchanged one of the items reported stolen – for cash. Once they had him in custody a search warrant was executed at the suspect’s home.
Thirty-five-year-old Jamie Alexander Simons, from Lloydminster, is charged with possession of property obtained by crime, over $5000, for the purposes of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, proceed of crime, and two counts of trafficking in stolen property under $5000.
RCMP say during the search, officers recovered nearly $16,000 in stolen property. Lloydminster RCMP are working to return the property to their rightful owners. Lloydminster RCMP would like to remind Albertans to secure their property, keep it out of plain sight, and not left in a vehicle or unattended.
