The Saskatoon Police Service says two teens are facing weapons charges after a traffic stop Tuesday afternoon.
Shortly after 4 p.m. a patrol officer pulled over a vehicle because the license plate was expired and then determined that a passenger in the vehicle had a warrant. After making the arrest the officer reports finding an air soft pistol in a backpack. Another occupant of the vehicle was also allegedly found in possession of a sawed-off rifle and ammunition.
Both males, age 15 and 17, are charged with carrying a concealed weapon. The 15-year-old faces five additional charges while the 17-year-old is also charged with possession of a dangerous weapon.
Meanwhile, the Saskatoon Police Service says officers seized a sawed-off rifle and bear spray during a traffic stop Wednesday morning.
Around 2:15 a.m. patrol offivers pulled over a vehicle in the area of 23rd Street West and Avenue O North. Police report that while speaking with the driver, officers saw a can of bear spray in the vehicle and that kicked off a weapons investigation where they subsequently located the gun.
A 34-year-old man faces charges of Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, Careless Use of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession in a Motor Vehicle, and Prohibited Possession of a Firearm.
