This is Vanese Ferguson with Coffee Talk. I have to give Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre a thumbs up for pointing out that the federal government’s decision to temporarily eliminate the federal fuel excise tax is essentially a net zero exercise for Canadians. With the switch to summer gas which is always more expensive it essentially detracts from any good that it does to suspend the tax. And the real savings would be in extending the suspension of the tax to the end of the year after we switch back to winter gas. And the fact that the GST – a tax that is being taxed on another tax –yeah – it’s being taxed on the fuel excise tax. That really gets my dander up. The Green Party suggestion that the big companies who are making like millions of this situation – be taxed an excess profit tax – is obviously not gonna fly. But I do believe that it is worth finding who, in terms of world leaders, have fingers in which companies that may be raking in the dough because of all the unrest.
