Saskatoon police officers and canine team arrested several people over the Easter long weekend including one man who police say was located with meth inside his vehicle.
On April 3 at 2:00 a.m. officers conducted a traffic stop with what was believed to be a stolen vehicle in the 3500 block of 33rd Street West.
The 34-year-old male driver stopped the vehicle and became combative with officers before attempting to re-enter his car. A police dog was able to apprehend him, and although the vehicle wasn’t stolen as originally thought, police did locate methamphetamine inside the vehicle.
Then, on Monday at 7:30 p.m., police received a report of a stolen SUV in the 300 block of Avenue U South. Officers arrived to find a suspect still in the vehicle, refusing to exit and failing to comply with Police orders. With one look at the arriving canine team the man changed his mind, and he was brought into custody. Charges are pending.
That same day at 10:10 p.m., Police responded to the 1000 block of Avenue K North in search of a 15-year-old boy who was wanted in connection to intimate partner violence. Police say he was hiding in the basement of the home but revealed himself after hearing that a canine team was being called in.
The male is charged with Mischief, Assault, and Uttering Threats.
