The Prince Albert Police Service say they were notified by the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service about a 50 year old man passing away Sunday at Royal University Hospital. And the Coroner’s Service says it was told by family members of the deceased that he had been involved in a fight – a physical altercation – on March 29th.
As a result an investigation is now underway into the circumstances surrounding this man’s death.
The Major Crimes Unit investigation indicates officers responded to an assault report at a home in the 1000 block of 17th Street West and located a man who had been injured after a fight with someone known to him. He was conscious when being transported to Victoria Hospital by ambulance for treatment of his injuries which indlucded bleeding from the nose and mouth but he left the hospital before being seen by a doctor.
On April 2nd the man returned to hospital, was treated and then transferred to RUH in Saskatoon where he later died.
An autopsy is being conducted today to assist in determining the cause of death.
