There will be a Game 6 on Sunday at SaskTel Centre as the visiting Edmonton Oil Kings downed the Saskatoon Blades 5-2 Wednesday, knotting their best-of-seven W-H-L Eastern Conference quarter-final at 2-2.

E-O-K scored the game’s first goal for the first time in the series, tallying twice in the first period after having not lit the red light in the three previous first frames. In addition, Edmonton’s best players were, indeed, their best players. Czech centre Miroslav Holinka recorded a hat trick while Lukas Sawchyn posted his first goal of the playoffs and added two assists. During the regular-season, Sawchyn led the Oil Kings with 88 points, including 61 assists, while Holinka notched a team-best 37 goals amongst 80 points. Holinka tallied the opening goal while his other markers came in the final two minutes in each of the first and second periods. The hat-trick goal erased any comeback attempts the Bridge City Bunch had in mind. As was the case in the previous two games of the series, E-O-K built a 3-1 lead but the Blue and Gold couldn’t rally to tie – although they did make it 3-2 on a Hunter Laing tally. Kazden Mathies had the other goal for the Blades who, once again, out-shot the Oil Kings 33-28. Game 5 of the series goes Friday night in Edmonton.
