An agreement has been extended to send Saskatchewan patients to Calgary for breast cancer diagnostic procedures.
A total of 831 Saskatchewan patients have been referred to the Calgary clinic since November 2023, with 746 patients having already completed the procedure.
The contract with Canadian Surgery Solutions has been extended to the end of March 2027.
Patients interested in making the trip to Calgary are triaged based on urgency and availability. Health Minister Jeremy Cockrill says there has been some progress in reducing Saskatchewan waiting times through the hiring of an additional breast radiologist and the opening of a breast health centre in Regina.
