The Western Hockey League returns to action tomorrow with the start of the playoffs and the beginning of all eight best-of-seven Conference quarter-final series. The Saskatoon Blades visit the Edmonton Oil Kings tomorrow in Game 1 of their best-of-seven Eastern Conference quarter-final. Game time is 7 p.m. CJWW’s broadcast starts at 6:45 with the play-by-play at 7 o’clock. The Bridge City Bunch finished the regular season with 34 wins, 27 losses, 7 extra time losses for 73 points…good for 6th place in the Eastern Conference. E-O-K finished the regular season with 45 wins, 18 losses, 5 extra time losses for 95 points…good for 3rd place in the East. Game 2 of the series is Sunday at 2 p.m. in Edmonton before the series switches to Saskatoon and SaskTel Centre for games Tuesday and Wednesday, both with 7 o’clock first face-offs.
The Prince Albert Raiders will be home to the Red Deer Rebels in the opening round, with Game 1 tomorrow at 7 p.m. at the Art Hauser Centre. P-A finished the regular season with 52 wins, 10 losses, 6 extra time losses for 110 points…good for 1st place in the Eastern Conference. Red Deer finished with 26 wins, 36 losses, 6 extra time losses for 58 points…good for 8th place in the East.
