Three people have been arrested in relation to a drug trafficking investigation with links between Canada and Australia.
In January, a joined effort between RCMP and the Australian Federal Police intercepted and seized a shipment of 115 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden in jars of pickles destined for Melbourne.
Two months later on March 17, two men, ages 40 and 63, were arrested in Australia. Police also executed two search warrants at two homes in Sydney and Melbourne. The search produced $400,000 in cash, eight, 1-kilogram silver bars, a luxury vehicle, jewellery and watches, electronic devices, and drug paraphernalia.
On the same day in British Columbia, a 46-year-old foreign national was arrested in Kelowna. RCMP says he was later released following further investigation into the exportation of drugs. The man has since been referred to the Canadian Border Services Agency for immigration enforcement action. Investigators executed search warrants at several locations including Abbotsford, Lower Nicola, and Kelowna, where they seized multiple cell phones and electronic devices.
