The City of Saskatoon says with the increase in daytime highs this week some temporary ponding is expected as the spring thaw begins. The City says it is actively monitoring and responding to drainage problems when they occur.
City officials note that a slow melt usually reduces the likelihood of ponding, but crews will begin removing snow piles from priority streets and monitoring locations which are more prone to drainage issues.
The City advises residents who notice water pooling on their street to check whether a catch basin is blocked and if they can, clear it. City crews prioritize their response to where flooding threatens property, affects intersections or crosswalks or could interfere with traffic.
As well residents who see potholes can report them quickly using the City’s Report-a-Pothole online map. City crews will be using a cold-mix asphalt for temporary repairs.
