BASF invests in new infrastructure to continue canola hybrid development

BASF is set to update and expand its Saskatoon Canola Breeding Centre of Innovation.

The company will spend $27 million on the project which will start construction this spring and will continue through the end of 2027.

The expansion comes as BASF celebrates 30 years of its InVigor hybrid canola. It will add breeding capacity and advanced automation for the InVigor hybrid canola breeding program.

Farmers can expect to see faster genetic gain and new trait integration, driving greater yields, disease protection and performance.

The expansion also includes a new advanced research-grade glasshouse design to support the advancement of future hybrid breeding programs.
