Persephone Theatre has announced its 52nd season, which will begin this September.
The new season will feature six Main Stage plays, two Youth Series plays, and a BackStage show.
Persephone Theatre Artistic Director Heather Cant says the shows in the upcoming season all revolve around a common theme.
“They are all stories about people’s ordinary lives. And that means that each of those plays is a comedy, a drama, it has got lots of heartfelt emotional experience but it’s also about growing as a human and becoming further along on your journey of life.”
Some of the highlights of the upcoming season include ‘Wake’ by Rachel Mutombo, which is making its world premiere at Persephone, as well as ‘Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash’ by Richard Maltby jr.
She adds that the theatre’s accessibility programing will also continue during the new season, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the shows.
“Each show has an ASL interpreted performance for deaf audiences, there’s an audio described performance for those who are blind or visually impaired. We do a pay-what-you-choose performance for financial accessibility. We also have a really wonderful program called PlayDate that is intended to support caregivers and families in being able to come to the theatre. We know that the cost of childcare can be a real barrier for people to be able to afford to come to the theatre.”
Subscription sales for new subscribers and single ticket sales will begin on April 6th.
