Doug Panter has been on the R.M. of Big River council for 40 years, both as a councilor and a reeve.
Panter was recognized this week for the four decades of service in the rural municipality surrounding the community of Big River, located a little more than two hours north of Saskatoon. He received the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Outstanding Service to Rural Saskatchewan. The presentation was made at the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM) convention in Regina this week by Lieutenant Governor Bernadette McIntyre.
Panter paid tribute to the many people he has worked with over the years and also noted the growth in the RM of Big River.
In addition to the RM, Panter has played a key role with Big River and District Fire and Rescue, serving on many local and regional boards, as well as being president of the Ladder Valley Community Centre for the past twenty years.
