The City of Saskatoon says a contractor is on scene at the 108th Street overpass to remove any loose concrete and make the overpass safe for drivers travelling underneath.
Northbound it’s down to one lane on Circle Drive at the 108th Street overpass. That after an over-height load hit the structure during rush hour Wednesday.
At the same time, engineers will make a secondary damage assessment to better understand the extent of future repairs. The overpass itself remains safe for use.
City officials say barring unforeseen circumstances it’s hoped the traffic restriction can be lifted sometime this afternoon.
A week ago, today, an over-height semi hit the overpass at Highway 11 and Highway 16 causing enough damage that Highway 16 eastbound traffic will remain reduced to a single lane until repairs can be completed.
