A 35-year-old man has been arrested by the Saskatoon Police Service following the report of an assault.

Police were called to a home in the 1200 block of Avenue H North shortly before 3:00 am this past Sunday and when officers entered the residence, they allege the suspect was attempting to destroy drugs and ammunition.

One man was taken into custody and members of the Guns and Gangs Unit were notified to assist with the investigation.

Following the execution of a search warrant in the Mayfair neighbourhood, a KAHR CW9 9mm handgun, prohibited magazine, ammunition and a concealable holster were all seized.

The man is facing six firearms-related charges in addition to a charge of assault causing bodily harm.
