Prince Albert emergency response units responded to a call on the 1900 block of 13th Street West just before 10:30pm on Saturday.  The caller stated that a person was possibly trapped in the home’s basement.  A 53-year-old man was transported to Victoria Hospital in serious condition, where he later died.

An 87-year-old woman was also inside the home, but she managed to exit prior to the emergency crews arrival. She was taken to hospital in stable condition. No word on the cause of the fire.

The Prince Albert Police Service, Prince Albert Fire Department and Saskatchewan Coroners Service are continuing an investigation.
