An 18-year-old man faces several charges after his arrest by the Saskatoon Police Service following an early Sunday morning shooting incident.
According to an S-P-S news release, officers responded to a report of a shooting at about 3:30 a.m. on March 8 near Circle Drive and Preston Avenue South. Police arrived to find a 35-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound on the roadway. Further investigation revealed the victim had been involved in a confrontation that escalated when the 18-year-old male produced a firearm and discharged it at the victim before fleeing on foot. Later, officers responded to a disturbance in the 1100 block of Baltzan Boulevard and located the suspect involved in the shooting outside. He is charged with aggravated assault, discharging a firearm with intent and breaching court-imposed conditions. The victim was transported to hospital with injuries believed to be non-life threatening.
