The 99th anniversary edition of the Montana’s Brier, Canadian Men’s Curling Championship, continues today and runs through Sunday in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. There are 18 teams taking part – 14 provincial and territorial champions, three wild-card qualifiers and the defending champions. The 18 teams are split into two pools of nine each for preliminary round-robin play, followed by playoffs. Among the 18 teams are the Mike McEwen foursome from Saskatoon in Pool B with 5 wins, 2 losses…good for 3rd place, and the Kelly Knapp quartet from Regina in Pool A with 3 wins, 4 losses…tied for 5th place.
