RCMP arrested two young male students at Greenall High School in Balgonie, east of Regina, just before noon on Wednesday.
Inspector Jillian McLaren, Saskatchewan RCMP South District Operations Officer, says police from multiple units responded immediately after a passerby on Highway 1 saw a vehicle driving around with a long firearm hanging out of the window. She adds that the school was locked down for about an hour. Police indicate three BB style long guns were seized outside of the school in a vehicle. No injuries were reported.
“I recognize that this is a very scary experience for teachers, for students and for parents,” she empathized.
An increased police presence will continue in the community as the investigation continues.
