Early Thursday a group of students from the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Agriculture and Bioresources, hit the highway for their annual Agros bed push.
In an update on social media they said they were so excited they made it an extra 16 kilometres and ended day-one in Craik.
The tradition started in 1982 and over the course of those years, students from USask have raised more than $450,000.
Laurel O’Neill, public relations officer with the Agriculture Student Association and one of the organizers, says, “We have a bed on four wheels, and we push it all the way from Regina to Saskatoon on the side of the Highway 11. And we do this raise money for Telemiracle and awareness.”
The trek is approximately 260 kilometres. Drivers along Highway 11 are asked to slow down, give them extra space as well as watch for students along the shoulder of the road and by all means, give a honk and a wave.
The committee accepts cash, card and e-transfer. Donations can also be made online through their official TeleMiracle fundraising page and through the U of S Agros social media channels.
