On Wednesday a few minutes after midnight, File Hills First Nations Police Service responded to a report of a homicide on Star Blanket Cree Nation and located a man deceased at a home.

A male was arrested at the scene. File Hills First Nations Police Service doesn’t have a Major Crimes Branch and contacted RCMP to take over the investigation.

RCMP have charged the teen with one count of second-degree murder. The teen is not being identified as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

RCMP say the victim and the accused are known to each other and they are not providing additional details about the relationship or the victim’s identity. The teen is in Fort Qu’appelle Provincial Court Thursday.
