Saskatoon Transit reports that snow accumulation is affecting access to bus stops and some streets.
Due to heavy snow accumulation on the roads, bus operators may stop in the driving lane to pick up passengers and not pull into bus stops to avoid getting stuck. Buses will be detoured if a bus stop is not accessible due to blown in snow.
Access Transit customers are strongly encouraged to reschedule non-urgent trips today. Same-day trips will not be accepted today, and customers should prepare to wait on board the bus in the event of delays as drivers navigate traffic and issues with snow accumulation.
Parkland Ambulance has issued an advisory that the weather and resulting road conditions mean their ambulance crews are parking in the middle of the residential streets when responding to emergencies to avoid being stuck.
They also ask the public to give ambulance crews and other emergency vehicles room to move especially when displaying red lights and sirens.
In addition, for rural residents, they are trying to their as fast as they can so if you know what roads are in better condition than others then please advise the dispatcher.
As well, a reminder to take your time snow shovelling, take frequent breaks and if you get short of breath or have chest pain that does not go away, get medical help.
SaskEnergy says with significant snowfall expected across much of the province is urging customers to take steps to keep natural gas equipment operating safely.
They suggest keeping a clear path to and around your natural gas meter, avoid pushing or piling snow around the meter, riser or exterior equipment vents and avoid using snowblowers or plows near natural gas equipment.
SaskEnergy says snow or ice can cause damage and lead to a service disruption and check that vents are free of snow not only to prevent equipment from malfunctioning but to avoid carbon monoxide build-up.
