Anglers can fish without a license on any provincial waterbody that is open to fishing this Saturday through till holiday Monday.
Fisheries biologist with the Ministry of Environment Maxime Legal says the weekend is part of a long-running tradition says it’s been around for 37 years.
He says, “It’s a great opportunity for Saskatchewan residents or non-residents to go out and try fishing. No license required so it is a great chance to discover what fantastic fishing opportunities are out in the province.”
Prospective anglers are reminded to follow all other regulations, which can be found in the Saskatchewan Angler’s Guide. Some waterbodies have lake-specific rules and regulations. With recent warm weather Legal also urges people to be cautious if they’re on the ice.
The government also says don’t leave a mess behind. Pack out all garbage and dispose of it properly.
