British Columbia RCMP have confirmed the names and ages of the eight victims in Tuesday’s mass shooting in Tumbler Ridge. They have also provided photos of six of them.

The shooting occurred just after 1:00 pm at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, when 18-year-old Jesse Van Rootselaar killed eight people before also shooting themself.

The victims’ names are as follows: 12-year-old Abel Mwansa, 13-year-old Ezekiel Schofield, 12-year-old Ticaria Lampert, a 39-year-old female teacher, Shannda Aviugana-Durand; the shooter’s 39-year-old mother, Jennifer Jacobs; and the shooter’s 11-year-old stepbrother, Emmett Jacobs.

RCMP have yet to determine a motive, but the investigation is ongoing.
