Saskatchewan RCMP has charged a fourth individual in relation to the February 2025 homicides of two men and women on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation.
On Wednesday, police officers with the RCMP and officers from File Hills First Nations Police Service arrested a 67-year-old man at a home on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation.
Lauren Elvis Hotomani from Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation is charged with one count of accessory after the fact to murder and is scheduled to appear in provincial court Thursday.
On February 4th last year, around 11:15 a.m., File Hills First Nations Police Service received a report of sudden deaths at a home on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation and located four people dead inside. Saskatchewan RCMP investigated the deaths of Tracey Hotomani, Sheldon Quewezance, Shauna Fay and Terry Jack as homicides.
RCMP located and arrested 18-year-old Darrius Racette in Yorkton a few weeks later and a 15-year-old male youth was arrested the same day on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation. Darrius Racette and the male youth are each charged with four counts of first-degree murder.
On December 10th RCMP executed a search warrant at a home on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation and arrested a 17-year-old male youth who has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder in connection to the homicides. The youth is also charged with one count, attempted murder after the police investigation determined an altercation occurred between the youth and a fifth person at the home.
In a news release Insp. Ashley St. Germaine, Senior Investigative Officer with the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Major Crimes Branch said, “The persistence and skill of our investigators drove this case forward. Ultimately, their commitment to meticulous investigative work allowed us to piece together the circumstances surrounding this case and give the victims’ families some answers.”
