The streaks are no more for the Saskatoon Blades and Prince Albert Raiders as the Bridge City Bunch blanked the Raiders 4-0 in P-A Saturday night.
The Blue and Gold had lost their previous three games earlier in the week in Alberta while Prince Albert brought an eight-game winning streak into the contest before a standing room only crowd of 3,044 at the Art Hauser Centre. David Lewandowski scored for a third straight game and opened the scoring for a second consecutive contest. That turned out to be the winning goal as Evan Gardner made 29 saves for his third shutout of the season and 10th of his W-H-L and Blades career, moving ahead of Andrey Makarov into second place on the Saskatoon franchise’s all-time list. Cooper Williams, Dustin Willhoft (pictured) and Hayden Harsanyi also tallied for the 25-19-4 Bridge City Bunch. Lewandowski and Harsanyi each added an assist while Willhoft chipped in with two helpers for a three-point game. The Blue and Gold won the special teams battle, going one-for-four on the power play and killing off all three Raiders’ man advantages. P-A, now 36-7-4 for the season, came into the game with the W-H-L’s third most lethal power play at just under 30 per cent. The same teams play Sunday afternoon at SaskTel Centre.
