Saskatoon’s first baby of 2026 was born just after 1:00 am on Thursday.

Emelia Rose Ava Iron was welcomed into the world at Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital by her mother Emily on Thursday, weighing just three pounds and 14 oz. She was born at 1:11 a.m. on the 1st day of the 1st month.

The pair are from Canoe Lake First Nation. This is Emily’s first baby, and both of them are doing fine according to the Saskatchewan Health Authority.
