A Saskatchewan-based company is looking for farmers to be part of the early testing this winter. The data collected from the ear tag can determine many health-based readings for the cow and that information is sent directly to the producer’s phone or home computer. By using artificial intelligence, the ear tag developer say it can help producer better pinpoint calving times.
Ori Cattle is based in Edam in the northwest part of Saskatchewan—but the tags are made in Mexico. The company wants producers to use the tag and provide input over the spring and summer before doing a full launch in the fall.
CJWW Agriculture Director Neil Billinger spoke to James Babcock with Ori Tag in the week prior to Christmas.
