The City of Saskatoon says Environment Canada is forecasting up to five centimetres of snow throughout the day today which will taper off in the evening.
City crews will be on the streets during the day with sanding and salting trucks managing manage icy sections while plows and graders will clear snow as it accumulates on priority routes.
On the east side of Saskatchewan there is a snowfall warning in place which encompasses an area stretching from Nipawin south through Yorkton all the way to Moosomin. Snowfall with total amounts of 10 to 20 cm is expected starting this afternoon.
A low-pressure system from Alberta will travel through southern Saskatchewan and southwest Manitoba Tuesday afternoon into the Wednesday morning hours.
A freezing rain and wind warning is in place for southeast Saskatchewan. Travel is not recommended because of freezing rain southeast of Regina including Weyburn. It is also not recommended on Highway 11 between Regina and Bethune. All highways out of Estevan are closed.
The southeast can also expect strong winds gusting to 90 km/h this afternoon which may also reduce visibility.
Similar winds are expected in the southwest, but it will take place this morning, in addition, the area is under a flash freeze warning because temperatures will be falling from above freezing early this morning, to below freezing by this afternoon.
