Shylah Sitter from Edam was crowned 2026 Miss Agribition Rodeo during the intermission of the Maple Leaf Finals Rodeo on Wednesday evening.
Sitter will assume the title from Abbey Harty, who was also raised in Edam, located a couple of hours northwest of Saskatoon. Shylah excelled during a two-day competition that assessed horsemanship, public speaking, rodeo knowledge and interview skills. Sitter will have the opportunity to complete for the Miss Rodeo Canada title in November 2026. Harty captured that title in Edmonton last month.
Harty is a couple of years older than Sitter, but the two young women would often ride horses at the same summer training facility.
“She prepared me lots for the social media aspect,” Sitter said. “Her main thing was ‘be you because they want you for you.’
Sitter is in her second year of studies in the child and youth care counsellor program at Lakeland College in Vermillion, Alberta where she is also a member of the rodeo team. She will start a new job soon at a daycare in Edam.
