Surrey, B.C. man arrested in Lloydminster with $7.65 million in unstamped cigarettes

A 33-year-old Surrey, British Columbia resident has been arrested in Lloydminster after RCMP seized $7.65 million in tobacco from his trailer.

On the early morning hours of November 18, Lloydminster RCMP conducted a traffic stop on a semi-truck travelling along 44 Street. During this traffic stop, the driver did not provide police with required documentation for the load he was hauling, and an inspection of the trailer revealed 8.8 million unstamped tobacco cigarettes.

The estimated street value is nearly 8 million dollars, and the semi-truck, trailer, and the contents of its load have been seized.

Gurjant Singh was arrested and has been charged with several offences. He was brought before a Justice and was released from police custody with conditions. Gurjant is scheduled to appear in the Lloydminster Provincial Court on court on December 16th.
