For the second time this season, the Saskatoon Blades overcame a deficit going into the third period to win. Rowan Calvert and Hunter Laing scored in the third period to give the Bridge City Bunch a 2-1 triumph in Calgary Friday night.

The Blue and Gold rode the stellar goaltending of Evan Gardner (pictured) to the come-from-behind victory as the Blades avenged a 4-1 loss at SaskTel Centre to the Hitmen last Saturday. Gardner stopped 26 of 27 shots, allowing only an early first period power play deflection goal by Landon Amrhein, as the 19-year-old Columbus draft pick out-duelled Eric Tu, who blocked 19 of 21 shots. The decision pulled Saskatoon, now 12-8-2 for the season, alongside 12-5-2 Calgary for third place in the Eastern Conference – each with 26 points. The Bridge City Bunch move on to Red Deer Saturday, to complete a mini, two-game Alberta road trip against the Rebels. CJWW’s broadcast starts at 6:45 p.m. with the play-by-play at 7 o’clock.
