The Everett Silvertips are the first W-H-L team to reach 10 wins this season, preventing the Saskatoon Blades from reaching the milestone as the Tips cruised to a 3-2 victory over the Bridge City Bunch Friday night.

Everett did all their scoring damage in the second half of the first period, notching all of their goals, then keeping the Blue and Gold at bay for the most part after that. The Silvertips improved their record to 10-0-1 with their eighth straight win and their 12th consecutive triumph over the Blades, dating back to 2011. Saskatoon, now 9-4-0 for the season, started slowly in the first game of six stops in the U-S Division. The Tips out-shot the Bridge City Bunch 17-4 in the first period and 39-16 overall for the contest. Hunter Laing tallied both goals for the Blue and Gold in the second period. The Blades move on to Portland, Oregon, were they’ll provide the opposition for the Winterhawks’ home opener. The Hawks won 6-5 Friday night in Vancouver to start 6-5-0 for the season – all games on the road. The franchise is celebrating their 50th anniversary season in Portland, so there’ll be a lot of pomp and ceremony prior to the game, schedule to start at 7 o’clock, Saskatchewan Time.
