It’s my Parting Shot for The Fearless Predictor’s Week 5 N-F-L best bets and tough to call games…..
All three of my slam-dunks were winners last week and, before you ask, I don’t care about whether they covered the spread or not – I don’t believe in those kind of “sucker” bets! So, I was right in saying that Buffalo would stay unbeaten against visiting New Orleans, Detroit knocking off Cleveland and Seattle winning in Arizona. I also had two of my not so certain prognostications come through, with the exception of Tampa Bay losing at home to Philadelphia in the battle of unbeatens. I did have Miami beating the Jets and I’m proud of my Jacksonville winning in San Francisco prediction. And, my Minnesota Vikings let me down in Ireland, losing to Aaron Rodgers and Pittsburgh!
No, I didn’t win the Saskatoon Media Group office pool last week…I could probably put that on repeat for you for the rest of this season!
On to Week 5 with only two teams at 4-0 and just three clubs winless at 0-4. My slam-dunk picks are Detroit, with the N-F-L’s highest-scoring offence, eviscerating the Joe Burrow-less Bengals right in Cincinnati; I’m going with the L-A Rams to wax the visiting San Francisco 49ers who will be without quarterback Brock Purdy and I like Seattle at home to beat Tampa Bay, who will have trouble recovering from losing for the first time in four weeks!
My not-so-certain picks – I’m a big believer that the longer a team goes unbeaten, the more likely they’ll fall victim to loose play and careless mistakes that will cost them. That’s why I’ve got New England winning in Buffalo on Sunday night! The Bills are ready to be knocked off the undefeated pedestal. I feel the same way about winless teams – as in the longer they go winless, the more likely they rise up and win a game. New Orleans will come close at home on Sunday, but will lose a close one to the Giants and, even without Tyreek Hill in the lineup, Miami will slip past home-standing Carolina.
I also think Philadelphia will lose for the first time this season against visiting Denver and my Minnesota Vikings can’t possibly go oh-for-2 in the British Isles! They can’t possibly lose to Cleveland!!
Of course they can! But, they won’t!!
That’s my Parting Shot. I’m Les Lazaruk…and it turned out nice again!
