I made the seven hour round trip from Saskatoon-to-Yorkton on Tuesday, bathed in sunshine and powered by a strong wind on the way home.
The reason for the journey was to participate in Jack Dawes final weekly agricultural broadcast at THE ROCK 98.5. Jack is 84 years old, a member of the Saskatchewan Agricultural Hall of Fame and for the past decade or so has been the Christian radio station’s voice of agriculture. Prior to that, Jack worked for the Prairie Oat Growers, but he is best known for his work at CJGX Yorkton from the 1980’s through to the 2000’s.
His final radio program was a tribute to his lengthy career. Many people sent greetings, a few called in and there were a couple of in-studio guests. The program was hosted by Jordan Patzwald—the morning man and the producer of Jack’s radio program.
After everything was done, I sat down and had this chat with Jack.
