It took only two games into the 2025-26 regular-season for the Saskatoon Blades to win a game in dramatic fashion.

Defenceman Brayden Klimpke (pictured) scored on a rebound of a Hayden Harsanyi shot at 1:25 of overtime to give the Bridge City Bunch a 3-2 victory over the Prince Albert Raiders Saturday night in the Blue and Gold’s home opener. The result gave the Blades a split of the home-and-home series after losing 4-2 Friday in P-A. It was the fifth straight home opener win to a season for Saskatoon, this one in front of 9,904 fans at SaskTel Centre. The Raiders battled back from 2-0 down after two periods – Rowan Calvert scoring both goals for the Bridge City Bunch – with Brayden Dube tallying twice to force extra time. Prince Albert won the faceoff to start the fourth period and possessed the puck for the first 75 seconds or so, when rookie defenceman Brock Cripps fell and Klimpke took off, leading a 3-on-2 rush into the Raiders’ zone. The 18-year-old sophomore defenceman passed to Harsanyi in the slot. His shot was stopped by P-A goaltender Dmitri Fortin with his left pad, but the rebound spilled to Klimpke going to the net and he was able to slip a shot under that pad and into the net for the win. The Raiders out-shot the Blue and Gold 26-22 and both teams were 1-for-3 on the power play. The Blades are off until their first foray into Alberta in the new season, visiting Lethbridge Friday and Medicine Hat Saturday.
