Between the fact that the trail fire – west of Beauval – and the Muskeg fire – north of La Plonge Reserve and Beauval – are both now considered to be contained, plus the significant de-escaltion of wildfires in the province over the last week – the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency issued their final weekly wildfire update Thursday.
As of 11 a.m. Thursday morning, the SPSA reported 17 active wildfires in the province with two categorized as contained, 14 are ongoing assessments and one listed as protecting values. There have been 490 wildfires so far this year, lower than the 594 from 2024, but higher than a five-year average of 439. The SPSA does say there will be updates issued if conditions in the province change.
