Episode 36 – Roxine’s Old-Fashioned Ginger Snaps
Ingredients
Wet mixture:
2 cups brown sugar
1 ½ cups butter
2 eggs
1 cup fancy molasses
Dry mixture:
4 ½ cups flour
4 tsp ground ginger
2 tsp ground cloves
2 tsp ground cinnamon
3 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
Extra:
½ cup flour (optional, if dough is sticky)
White sugar (for rolling)
Instructions
In a large bowl, mix together brown sugar, butter, eggs, and molasses.
In another bowl, whisk together flour, ginger, cloves, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture. If the dough is too sticky to roll, mix in up to ½ cup more flour.
Roll dough into small balls, coat in sugar, and place on a baking sheet.
Press each ball lightly with a fork.
Bake at 350°F for 10–12 minutes.
Cool and enjoy.
