Saskatoon Police are warning the public that someone is using one of their non-emergency numbers for potential fraud.
Several complaints were received from the public on Friday about suspicious phone calls. The call would appear on display as originating from a Saskatoon Police phone number. A caller identifies themselves as a police officer requesting information related to a police file. In most cases, the recipient recognized the call as suspicious and hung up.
At this time, no incidents of fraud have been reported. The calls appear to be coming from out-of-province, specifically B.C. and Alberta.
Saskatoon Police say they will never ask people to provide personal or financial details over the phone.
