It’s my Parting Shot as T-F-P is back again, this time with Week 15 C-F-L picks…..
It happens – upsets and last place teams winning games that almost everyone outside of those teams’ locker rooms and fan bases don’t believe will happen. Not many folks saw Edmonton beating Calgary or Ottawa knocking off B-C – but it happened and left The Fearless Predictor with a 2-2 log for Week 14. On to this weekend…
…starting tonight with Winnipeg at Hamilton. The Tiger-Cats got back on track and seemed to solidify their hold on first in the East Division while the Blue Bombers lost both ends of the mid-season home-and-home with Saskatchewan – and also lost starting quarterback Zach Collaros to another concussion. How can I not say Hamilton by more than two touchdowns?!
The nightcap of the Friday Night Football doubleheader has Ottawa at B-C, the back end of a home-and-home in which the RedBlacks rallied for a one-point win at home last week. Do I dare go with another upset special? The Lions’ defence is like a turnstile for opponents into their end zone while their offence is as good as any in the league. I should go with the home team, but I’m taking Ottawa by less than a field goal!
Saturday’s doubleheader begins with Edmonton at Toronto. This situation is similar to Ottawa at B-C. The Eastern team is 4-8 and tied for third place, normally the last playoff spot in the division. However, the Western opponent is tied for fourth at 5-7, which gives the holder of that spot a cross-over berth into the Eastern post-season! The Elks looked good in beating the Stampeders last week while the Argos won twice before a bye last week. I’m going with Toronto by more than a touchdown!
The final game of the week is Saturday night’s Roughriders’ home game against Montreal. Based on my predictions, the Green and White will have clinched a playoff spot, but still have a ways to go to claim first place in the West. Calgary is idle, so the Riders have a chance to put more distance between them. Saskatchewan started the Alouettes on their five-game losing streak back on August 2. The Als get McLeod Bethek-Thompson, their second string quarterback to play while Davis Alexander remains sidelined. M-B-T won’t help – the Roughriders win by more than two touchdowns!
My season record is 30-24, nothing to write home about at 55-point-six per cent accuracy. The goal remains 60 per cent by season’s end!
That’s my Parting Shot. I’m Les Lazaruk…and it turned out nice again!
