Last summer (2024) I noticed there were many signs in the city, for speed limits, marking truck routes and some I couldn’t even discern because they were so faded. And I thought, well, they’ll be replaced because that is a significant issue especially in a city with exponential growth and an increase in traffic to match. I contacted the City of Saskatoon earlier this summer to request an interview as to why they hadn’t been replaced and was told that a report is going to council this month on the matter and there wouldn’t be any discussion prior to that taking place. I’m extremely curious why council would be involved in sign replacement. I would think that is simply an administration function that falls under a particular department and is part of regular maintenance. But it would seem that is not the case. However, it’s been a year since I noticed the problem, so I hope it hasn’t taken a year to get a report put together, for whatever reason, to execute basic upkeep. Saskatoon City Council meets September 24th, so I’ll keep you posted.
