The provincial and federal governments have invested $1 million into the creation of four new affordable housing units in Swift Current. These units will be available to both individuals with brain injuries and seniors experiencing homelessness.
The funding comes from the Canada-Saskatchewan Bilateral Agreement under the National Housing Strategy.
The new build, which is expected to be fully occupied by September, consists of two accessible one-bedroom homes and two bachelor suites.
The one-bedroom homes even include small yards. The two bachelor suites will serve as transitional homes for seniors experiencing homelessness, while operators Prairie Pioneers Independent Housing works with the tenants to find them a permanent home.
These units are just the latest of 105 affordable housing units in Swift Current operated by PPIH.
