Following discussions with Prince Albert community leaders, the provincial NDP is pledging to improve the safety of Prince Albert.
NDP Leader Carla Beck and her colleagues met with City Council Thursday morning, and in recent days, her team met with leaders in the city’s Sikh, Hindu and Muslim communities. She is set to hold roundtable discussions with Prince Albert economic leaders and public safety representatives later Thursday, as well.
An NDP news release says July’s Statistics Canada data indicated that Saskatchewan has the highest rate of severe crime in the country, nearly twice the national average. Severe crime in Prince Albert has risen seven per cent since 2018.
