Strong community participation has been noted by Meewasin during the first month of National Urban Park Exploration engagement, numbering in the thousands.
The statement was made by Meewasin in a news release, which added that public feedback and ideas are helping them with refining key details of the potential national urban park designation. That includes how the public use and experience the park, the importance of cultural spaces and areas for future investment.
There are several ways to still be involved in the National Urban Park Exploration engagement, including a pop-up booth Wednesday from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Saskatoon Ex. You can also take a survey on the Meewasin website between now and September 12 to share your thoughts and ideas. Plus, there are other in person chances to make your thoughts and ideas known, a schedule of which can be found below.
The release adds that Meewasin and its partners will continue to manage the park if the area becomes designated as a national urban park, as they do now. As well, Meewasin says that partnering with Parks Canada would bring new investments to the valley, with the park remaining free and open to everyone.
