The overpass walkway over College Drive is going to be removed. The decision was made at Wednesday’s Saskatoon City Council meeting.
The City of Saskatoon says the overpass no longer meets standards for accessibility and a street level accessible crosswalk will take its place but to keep traffic moving the crosswalk that currently exists at Bottomley Avenue, west of Cumberland Avenue, will be removed.
In a news release Terry Schmidt, General Manager, Transportation and Construction Division said, “In 2025 we are on track to build approximately 44 station platforms city-wide, expanding significantly from the six built last year. With the College corridor concept plan now finalized we can look at beginning to work on College Drive in 2026.” Link remains on course to launch city-wide service in 2028.
Upgrades to the College Drive Corridor, which involved a dedicated centre running rapid transit lanes for Link, will begin next year.
Public and stakeholder information sessions for a concept plan, to accommodate Link on 1st Avenue from 19th Street to 25th Street, will take place this autumn.
