Saskatoon Police have arrested a 40-year-old man after he was seen striking a vehicle with a flagpole at a recent protest.
At about 2:50 p.m. Sunday, officers were called to the intersection of 8th Street East and Emerson Avenue. A man was seen sitting in a truck with exterior damage.
The man and several witnesses say that the truck was trying to enter a parking lot at the intersection when a man blocked it and began to hit it.
The suspect was found nearby and arrested but was later released on an Undertaking with a future court date.
The SPS adds that it recognizes the man’s right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly, however, acts of unlawful behavior will not be tolerated and criminal wrongdoing will be responded to appropriately.
