The completed report by the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) into an officer for the Marshals Service who has resigned should be released to the public, says the Saskatchewan NDP. In the statement from the Opposition, the officer was placed on administrative leave before the Marshals Service was fully operational.
The Saskatchewan NDP say the completed report has been given to the Saskatchewan Government’s Minister responsible for the Marshals Service, Tim McLeod.
Saskatchewan NDP Shadow Minister for Justice Nicole Sarauer says the new police service has already been associated with controversy. “Minister McLeod needs to be straight with the people of Saskatchewan and release this investigation. I hope the minister will want to try to rebuild trust.”
The Opposition say last August, Premier Moe received a letter from 89 municipalities requesting the provincial government pump the breaks on the Marshal Service. Concerns were made the Marshals Service would take RCMP and local police away from the frontlines.
Sarauer says if McLeod chooses to hide the report it can blow up in his face.
