The dangerous person alert issued by the Saskatchewan RCMP Thursday morning has been cancelled.
Thursday morning at 2 a.m., Punnichy RCMP responded to a report of an armed man at a home on Muskowekwan First Nation.
As officers arrived, a firearm was shot, and an officer was struck. They were taken to hospital by EMS with injuries described as non-life threatening in nature.
The armed suspect then fled the home on foot, and there were no other occupants in the residence.
After several hours of the man being at large, Saskatchewan RCMP issued a dangerous person alert for the Muskowekwan First Nation and surrounding area at 6:36 a.m.
The subject of the alert, 28-year-old Elijah Albert, was located and arrested at a rural location near Lestock, Saskatchewan, shortly before 9:00 a.m.
Saskatchewan RCMP’s Provincial General Investigation Section has now taken carriage of this ongoing investigation. Charges are pending, and investigators do not believe there is any further risk to public safety associated with this incident.
