The wildfire situation that continues to impact northern Saskatchewan communities has prompted the Corrections, Policing and Public Safety Minister to ask for additional resources from the Federal Government.
Tim McLeod sent a letter to the Federal Minister of Emergency Management and Community Resilience and Public Safety requesting up to 300 Type 3 fire personnel, which would also require logistical support, lodging, food and transportation.
He also asked for medium and intermediate helicopters for bucketing and crew movement, Value Protection kits with sprinklers and hoses, and water haulers.
There are 51 wildfires burning in the province, 15 are not contained. The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency is dealing with 10 evacuation incidents.
